Zambia’s Chipolopolo has jetted off to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to continue their preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The team, before flying out to Jeddah on Monday night, held a morning training session at the National Heroes Stadium in the Zambian capital of Lusaka.
The players worked on the pitch under the guidance of coach Avram Grant and his technical team, with the players being put through their paces before their departure to Jeddah.
The 2012 AFCON winners will spend 10 days in Jeddah, during which they will play a friendly match against Cameroun on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, before heading to San Pedro, Ivory Coast for the biennial tournament, which runs from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
Saudi Arabia-based forward Fashion Sakala will link up with the team, with other key players from Europe, including Patson Daka, Frankie Musonda, and Lameck Banda also joining the team for their final preparations.
Zambia is in Group F alongside Morocco, Tanzania and Congo DR.
The Chipolopolo will first come up against DR Congo at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San-Pedro on January 17, 2024, then face Tanzania at the same venue four days later and then Morocco also at the same venue on January 24, 2024.
The Zambia national football team are marking their return to the tournament after missing out on the last three editions.
