Ghanaian defender, Rashid Tetteh has urged the Technical team of the Black Stars of Ghana to bring out the best of the players in the forthcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars of Ghana will be aiming for their fifth AFCON title, having last grabbed the title in 1982.
The team has been paired in Group B where they will lock horns with Cape Verde, six-time winners Egypt and Mozambique on January 14, 18 and 22 respectively in Ivory Coast.
However, the task does not come on a silver platter as it requires collective efforts from the entire playing body in their quest to make history.
According to Tetteh, the Technical handlers of the team must know how to use these players because the team can boast of enough quality.
In an interview with LinusNartey TV on YouTube, the versatile defender said ” We have guys and I hope the Coaches, Technical Directors do something because we have the quality. We have to know how to use these guys. I don’t know what is going on at the GFA and don’t want to talk about them, but they are doing their job. Sometimes when people talk against them, I don’t really take that because when they step down and those people talking goes to do the job, they might not be able to do it. It is really hard and tough because it is not everyone who will play. If we call 25-man squad, they are all not going to start the game, so if someone is playing, we Ghanaians must have patience.
The former Cantoments FC and Liberty Professionals man further stated that ” It is tough to be on the field so I urge Ghanaians to relax when they’re not pulling. I know you want a trophy but it will take time. This is not the old Black Stars, it’s a new team with different faces”
Rashid Tetteh started his career with Cantoments FC before crossing paths to join the U-20 side of Liberty Professionals where he departed the shores of Ghana for the United States.
He’s one of the few to stay in school and still pursue his football dreams, as the 28-year- old is a graduate from the High Point University in North Carolina and currently plays regularly for FC Tulsa in the USL Championship.
