Former Medeama SC goalie Mozart Adjetey, says Kudus Mohammed will be the standout player for the Black Stars of Ghana during the 2023 African Cup of Nations which is slated for Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The Black Stars will be hoping to end their trough drought since they last won the title in 1982 when they face off with Cape Verde, six-time champions Egypt and Mozambique on January, 14, 18 and 22 respectively in Group B.
According to the former Black Stars ‘B’ goalie, Kudus Mohammed who has been on staggering display for West Ham United in the English Premier League will be the shinning spot in the Ghanaian team, having recorded 6 goals, one assist in 16 games for the Hammers since joining from Dutch giants Ajax in August 2023.
Speaking to LinusNartey TV, Mozart Adjetey said “ Kudus Mohammed will be the number one player at the AFCON for team Ghana. He has no competitor”.
However, the 23-year-old attacking midfielder is yet to report to the camp of the Black Stars in Ghana, after he was reported to have been nursing a slight injury he picked up while playing for West Ham.
The Black Stars will square off with Namibia in a preparatory game on Monday, January 8 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Park in Abrankese, before leaving the shores of Ghana for Abidjan a day after.
Mozart Adjetey had stints in Ghana with Okwahu United, Heart of Lions, Medeama SC and Dreams Fc before moving to Kenya where he played for Gor Mahia.
