“The players know what it will take to get the result against Mozambique- Black Stars coach Chris Hoghton

A must win games for the Black Stars as they come face-to-face in their last B group game against Mozambique.

A win will propel the Black Stars to progress to the round of 16, after failing to win their first two group games.

Black Stars head coach Hughton acknowledged a tough game against Mozambique, but emphasized that his team knows what it takes to get a positive result.

“The players know what it will take to get a result. There are no easy games in this tournament, We have to be physically and mentally prepared for this.” he said.

Individual errors from the Black Stars defense affect the team not to pick a single point in their first group B game against Cape Verde loosing the game in a 2-1 defeat. Same template reflected in their second game led the stars to draw the game with the pharaohs of Egypt. On two occasions in the second half of the game, individual mistakes gave away two goals to Egypt draw the game 2-2.

The Black Stars are currently third in Group B with one point from two games, and a win against Mozambique would see them progress to the knockout stages.

Houghton and his team will need to be at their best to overcome the challenge posed by Mozambique, who are also seeking to advance from the group.

The match between Ghana and Mozambique is scheduled to take place at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe on Monday night January 22, 2024 at exactly 8:00 pm.
