Ghana striker Inaki Williams stupendously scored a spectacular goal for Athletic Bilbao in their 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid 3-0 in the Copa del Rey semi-finals, setting up a final showdown against Mallorca on April 6.
The Ghanaian forward gave Athletic a convincing 4-0 aggregate victory by scoring once and setting up another goal with an assist from his younger brother Nico Williams.
Throughout the game, Inaki Williams was unstoppable, outwitting the Atletico defence with his fast reactions and keen senses.
After Nico Williams’ cross found him unmarked in the box, he firmly volleyed past Jan Oblak to open the score in the fifteenth minute.
Not to be outdone, the older Williams brother took over as supplier shortly before halftime. Nico Williams was found by his deft cutback, and he finished coolly past Oblak to give Athletic a 2-0 lead.
The hosts persisted in applying pressure, and after an hour, they were rewarded with a third goal to complete the 4-0 aggregate triumph.
Athletic’s success this season has been largely attributed to Inaki Williams, who has contributed 11 goals and five assists across all competitions.
The team’s first Copa del Rey final since 2021 was made possible by his outstanding play, and he will be eager to lead them to their 24th championship when they play Mallorca in Sevilla.
