REPORTS: Former Aduana Stars forward Welbeck Takyi joins Karela United on a 2-year deal

Ghana Premier League side, Karela United has acquired the services of forward Welbeck Takyi on a 2-year deal from Aduana Stars, according to reports.

The former Tano Bofoakwa and B.A. United man declined in form since joining Aduana Stars in 2021 following his blistering campaign for Bofoakwa in the Division One League.

Takyi, 22, saw less playing time with the Dormaa based side, coupled with injuries as he hopes to recover discover his form again with Karela United, having mutually parted ways with the ‘Ogya’ lads at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

With the second round of the Ghana Premier League set to kick start in February, the enterprising forward is expected to play a part for the Aiyinase side in their quest to escape relegation following their poor run in the first round.

Welbeck Takyi shot into fame when he registered 20 goals in 24 games for Bofoakwa in the 2020/21 Division One League, which earned him a call-up to join the Black Stars under former trainer C.K. Akonnor.
