Professor Peter Twumasi has been removed from his position as the National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General in Ghana.
Taking his place, Mr. Dodzie Numekevor has been appointed as the Acting Director General of the Authority.
The appointment of Dodzie Numekevor was officially confirmed by the Secretary to President Nana Bediatuo Asante on February 26, 2024, with a stipulation that he must accept the appointment within 14 days.
On December 10, 2019, Prof. Twumasi took over as Director General, replacing Robert Sarfo Mensah, who had resigned due to accusations arising from the “number 12” Exposé published by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye PI.
Prof. Twumasi’s handling of Ghana’s stadiums came under fire throughout his tenure, and supporters of the game frequently demanded that he be removed.
Prof. Twumasi suffered a significant blow to his political ambitions lately when he was not selected to run as a parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 Parliamentary Elections.
He garnered only 7 votes in the Ahafo Ano South West constituency, further contributing to the developments leading to his removal from the National Sports Authority.
