President Akufo-Addo challenges Ghanaians to support Black Queens like they support Black Stars

Ghana President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to support the black Queens the same way they support the Black Stars during international games.

The president who has fallen in love with the performance of the team under new manager Nora Hauptle heaped praises on the Black Queens for their recent top performances.

Delivering his State of the Nation Address on Tuesday, February 27, the President said although the Black Queens do not get half the attention Black Stars get, they are doing creditably well.

“Mr. Speaker, the senior Women’s team the Black Queens who do not get half the attention the Black Stars get, have been performing quite creditably. They had gone for ten (10) matches without any loss until last December’s when they lost narrowly to Namibia in Windhoek in the final qualifying round for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations,” President Akufo-Addo said.

The President in his address, called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Queens for their game against Zambia on Wednesday, in the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games.

“Even though they lost narrowly to Zambia in the first leg of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games, let us wish them well in the second leg to be played in Lusaka tomorrow, and hope they give us something to cheer about,” President Akufo-Addo said.

The Black Queens need to overturn a 1-0 defeat to Zambia tomorrow to advance to the final round of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
