The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has confirmed AFCON winning manager Emerse Fae as the substantive manager for the Elephants after his heroics at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
This was confirmed by the President of the Ivorian Football Federation Idriss Diallo on Monday afternoon.
The former Ivorian international had been acting as an interim coach following Jean-Louis Gasset’s dismissal during the 2023 AFCON.
Speaking at the announcement held at Orange Côte d’Ivoire’s offices, a partner of FIF, Idriss Diallo underlined the importance of Faé’s confirmation, stressing qualities like tenacity, devotion, and dedication.
“Emerse Faé was the interim coach. He is now the confirmed coach. I wanted to announce it here (at Orange) to mark the symbolism. That of resilience, loyalty, commitment (…) And with Emerse Faé, the new boss of the Elephants, that’s what we intend to do 100%,” said Diallo as reported by KOACI.
After Gasset’s resignation, Faé was thrust into leadership of the Elephants and overcame scepticism by putting in place a successful system that propelled Ivory Coast to the summit of Africa.
