In a groundbreaking step, the Ghanaian champions Medeama have inked a partnership deal with Al Nasr SC, based in Dubai, to expedite the sharing of technical and administrative experience.
Moses Armah, the president of Medeama, and Abdulla Bin Touq, the chairman of Al Nasr, witnessed the signing of the deal.
While Medeama was travelling to Algiers for their last CAF Champions League game against CR Belouizdad, the agreement was signed at the Al-Maktoum Stadium.
The 2023–24 CAF Champions League participants became the first Ghanaian team to formally have a relationship with an Emirati club in recent memory.
The “cooperation agreement” with the Arab club includes technical and sports cooperation aimed at expanding the international scope and opening more global opportunities for mutual benefit.
The Memorandum of Understanding’s (MoU) provisions aim to discover and investigate both clubs’ best practices.
Along with capacity building for administrators and sponsorship opportunities, the partnership also includes technical knowledge sharing for both parties’ senior and youth teams, visits by technical staff and football management experts, and any other matters deemed necessary for the effective promotion of the two parties’ interests.
Top officials from both clubs served as witnesses as the two parties ratified the agreement, with Medeama president Moses Armah signing on behalf of the Ghanaian powerhouses and Al Nasr chairman Abdulla Bin Touq writing on behalf of the Emirati side.
Medeama hosted a one-day training camp at the Al Nasr facility on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, before the team’s departure to Algeria for the final CAF Champions League group stage match against CR Belouizdad.
