MATCH REPORT: Zambia 3(4) – 3(3) Ghana – UNLUCKY Black Queens suffer painful defeat to Copper Queens despite incredible away performance

Ghana’s female senior national team – The Black Queens – suffered a painful defeat at the hands of the copper queens of Zambia in their quest to secure a ticket for the 2024 Olympic Games.

A 4-3 aggregate score line meant Ghana will not proceed to the next phase of the qualifier, ending their dream of picking a ticket for the Olympics for the first time.

The Black Queens staged an incredible performance against the copper Queens in the second leg of the game, securing a 3-3 score line at the Levi Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The 3-3 away score line could not see Ghana through as Zambia had won the first leg by a lone goal at the Accra Sports Stadium, in Ghana,

After putting up a good fight, the Black Queens managed to avoid defeat but could not secure the needed result to overcome the opponent.

Goals from Gifty Assifuah, Doris Boaduwaa, and Azumah Bugre helped the Black Queens to hold the Copper Queens to a 3-3 draw.

This brings the aggregate score to 4-3 in favour of the Copper Queens as Zambia advances to the final round of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Copper Queens will be crossing swords with either Morocco or Tunisia in the final phase of the qualifiers to determine who makes it to the Olympics in France later this year.
