Heart of lions announced their return to the Kpando Sports Stadium with a beautiful win over Asante Kotoko following the return of the Ghana Premier League.
The home side had to leave it late to pip the Porcupine Warriors in a game that was keenly contested.
Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah’s second half strike was enough to give the home side the important win.
The Porcupine Warriors’ approach to the game was positive, creating some decent chances in the early minutes but Bashiru Hayford had other ideas.
The home side remained resolute to resist all the attacks from the visitors before unleashing their pipping the, to secure all three points.
Man of the Match, Thomas Osae was instrumental in the game for the home side, stopping all the dangerous strikes from the visitors.
Lions turned the game over to their side before half time to balance the game and had a free kick on the 30th minute but was parried away by Frederick Asare.
The game ended barren in between with both sides displaying good football promising a better second half.
In the second half, henry Ansu lost possession for the visitors which fell to the advantage of the home side with Kwadwo Asamoah finishing off beautifully to blast home the winner.
With the victory, Bashir Hayford’s team moves out of the drop zone and into the 15th spot in the standings for the first time this year, while Asante Kotoko keeps up their fight for the league championship.
Following a scoreless draw in the opening round at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Heart of Lions has now won four of six meetings with Asante Kotoko SC this season.
