MATCH REPORT: Karela United 1-0 Asante Kotoko – Abukari Damba lash Kotoko again

Karela United pipped Asante Kotoko on Saturday at the Naa Sheriga Complex in Nalerigu in the Match Day 20 of the Ghana premier League to mark a second consecutive win by Coach Abukari Damba over the Porcupine warriors.

The former Black Stars goalkeeper is gradually establishing himself as a thorn in the flesh of the Porcupine Warriors after beaten them earlier in the MTN FA Cup a fortnight ago.

A 62nd minute strike from Giyasu Ibrahim helped Karela United secure a crucial league victory over Asante Kotoko on Saturday at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nalerigu.

Giyasu outjumped his markers to head home a powerful header to score the only goal of the game to mark kotoko’s first defeat at the new venue.

With a victory, Kotoko looked to go up to the top of the table and take a spot alongside league leaders Samartex.

But Karela United, who played with great drive and intensity throughout the game, had other ideas.

Kotoko tried to get into a rhythm, but Karela’s defenders stayed firm, and Ibrahim’s forceful header from a corner kick gave Karela the victory.

With the victory, Karela United climbs to 13th position in the league standings, four points above the relegation zone.

Kotoko, on the other hand, runs the risk of falling out of second place if their near rivals win their remaining games.
The triumph for Karela United is evidence of their tenacity and willpower.

They have shown that they can compete with the best teams in the league, and their performance will surely boost their confidence as they approach the remainder of the season.

For Kotoko, the loss serves as a wake-up call, and they must now refocus their energy on securing positive results in their upcoming matches.
