MATCH REPORT: Hearts of Oak 1-1 Bofoakwa Tano – Wasteful Hearts share spoils with struggling Bofoakwa Tano

Accra Hearts of Oak failed to beat struggling Bofoakwa Tano at the WAFA Park in Sogakope in the Match Day 20 of the Ghana premier League.

A goal in each half for each side ensured the struggling side stole a point from the Phobians in a game Hearts should have won.

Hearts came closer to breaking the deadlock jus 15 minutes into the game but Issah Kuka missed the header that could have given the Rainbow boys the lead.

Bofoakwa Tano responded quickly with Elvis Opoku striking from a distance aiming to break the virginity of the game but the ball galloped wide to the relief of Hearts of Oak.

Seven minutes after Kuka failed to score, Salifu Ibrahim shot Hearts of Oak into the lead with a brilliant curler from the right after picking a pass far right and turning around his marker to slot the ball at the near post.

Linda Mtange was gifted with a chance to increase the tally for Hearts of Oak when Salim Adams’ long pass skipped past the Boafoakwa goalie but his kick lacked power.

Boafoakwa turned the heat on Hearts in search of the equalizer but Saaka Dauda’s pass was poorly connected by Najib Ibrahim.

A minute after the half hour mark, Salim Adams’ pass found Kassim Cisse in the Bofoakwa goal area but his shot went over the bar when he could have simply placed the ball at the far corner to increase the tally for Hearts.

Bright Kyereh was yellow carded by the referee with ten minutes to the end of the first half after landing a cynical tackle on the chest of Linda Mtange.

Bofoakwa staged a fight back but it was Hearts of Oak who went into the break with the lead.

The visitors returned from the break well energised, looking to restore parity to open up the game.

Bofo were finally granted the opening when Emmanuel Agyenim tapped home the equalizer from close range six minutes after the break.

Alhassan Ali’s shot across goal was poorly cleared by Kofi Agbeshima, falling to Agyenim who taped it home to restore parity for the Tano Boys.

Moments after the equalizer, Linda Mtange connected excellently with Denis Korsah on the 72nd minute to have increased the tally for Hearts but Linda’s drive missed the post by inches.

Tijani Cisse was forced to pull a brilliant save from Karikari’s free kick on the 90th minute when Hearts of Oak kept knocking for the lead again.

Bofo held on at the back to prevent Hearts of Oak from taking the lead again to steal a point from the WAFA Park in Sogakope.

The point earned against Hearts means Bofoakwa Tano have gone 10 matches away from home recording only 2 defeats.
