Dreams FC are a step away from making history in their first continental campaign following a 1-0 win over Tunisian giants Club Africain.
The win has taken the Still Believe lads to the summit of Group C with Club Africain and Rivers United trailing.
A piledriver from Godfred Atuahene on the 49th minute was all that The Believers needed to secure all maximum points in the game.
In a game that was fairly contested, Dreams FC will count themselves lucky for not conceding any goal despite the clearest opportunities falling to their opponents.
Club Africain could have broken the virginity of the game with only 3 minutes into play when Kingsley Edowu was poorly marked by Abdul Jalil but his drive galloped over the bar.
The Tunisians resorted to defending deep at their half only to attack Dreams FC on the break but they failed to break the deadlock.
Dreams FC star boy Abdul Aziz Issah was quiet in the first half of the game, as if he was restoring energy to fire up in the second half.
The game went into the break with no goal to either side but it was Dreams FC who laughed away with possession, 64% to their credit.
The Ghanaian FA Cup champions returned from the break better than they started changing the intensity of their transitional plays.
Just 4 minutes after the break, Godfred Atuahene fired home the opener and the only goal of the game.
Aziz Issah had taken on two Club Africain defenders, found Suhuyini on the right of attack who did not waste time in flying in a cut back which was perfectly blasted in by Atuahene to hand Dreams FC the win.
Club Africain changed their approach to the game, doubling men upfront and sharing possession with Dreams FC after their goal.
They came closer to restoring parity but Arfaoui failed to bury two begging chances that came his way.
The win puts Dreams FC atop the group standings with 12 points, followed by Club Africain and Rivers United with nine points each.
However, Dreams FC still have work to do to ensure qualification.
They need a draw or a one-goal loss against Rivers United in their final game to progress.
It’s been an impressive run for Dreams FC in their first CAF Confederation Cup appearance, and they’ll aim to seal their spot in the knockout stages with a positive result in their final group game.
