Raphael Dwamena to be buried today

Former Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena will be buried today following his unfortunate death a few months ago.

The former Black Stars striker will be given a private burial after being laid to rest in state at Accra’s Adjiringano Astro Turf.

In November 2023, Dwamena tragically passed away during a match in the Albanian first flight between KF Egnatia and KF Partizani.

He collapsed in the game’s twenty-third minute, was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead afterwards.

The 28-year-old’s career has encountered difficulties ever since his initial diagnosis of a heart condition in 2017.

The prolific striker showed off his skills even though he was wearing a cardiac detector from then on, rising to the top of the Albanian league before his untimely death.

Dwamena, who played for illustrious teams like FC Zurich, Real Zaragoza, and Levante, had a lasting impression on the football community.

In 2017, he scored in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Ethiopia, marking his debut for the country.

Following the private burial, the funeral will start right away. This will be the last farewell to a player whose bright future was cut short by a devastating health issue.
