Jordan Ayew grateful to Roy Hodgson for impacting his career positively

The decision by Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to resign due to sickness has elicited a response from Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew.

Following an apparent collapse at the training fields, the former England manager resigned from his position as the club’s head coach on Monday.

Oliver Glasner, a former head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, has been officially named the Eagles’ new manager.

The game was being watched at Goodison Park by the Austrian manager.

Ayew, who scored Palace’s goal, responded to Hodgson’s decision to quit the team by praising the 70-year-old for developing him as a player.

“When we speak about Roy I have goosebumps because he’s been so good to me and he’s been a top manager, a top man,” emotional Ayew said after Palace’s 1-1 draw at Everton on Monday night.

“He helped me a lot and made me improve as a football player and as a man as well. I can’t thank him enough,” he added.

Ayew started 21 out of 22 league games under Hodgson this season, scoring twice and providing five assists in the process.

With 25 points after Monday night’s results, Crystal Palace is now in 15th place and will visit Burnley coming Saturday at Selhurst Park.
