Former Hearts of Oak defender, Dan Ziem Quaye has revealed that, he is disappointed the club failed to fulfill their part of the agreement after winning the CAF Champions League in the year 2000.
According to the Ex-Ghanaian international, the club promised of awarding each player $25,000 should they win the trophy but failed to give out the such amount after the Phobians defeated ES Tunis from Tunisia in the final.
Speaking to LinusNartey TV on YouTube, Dan Quaye mentioned that, he received $1500 from the $25000, adding that, even with that, the payment delayed and was done in installment which made it difficult to retrieve the rest of the money.
“I would say the authorities disappointed us because based on the agreement we had with them, they said each player will receive 25000 dollars if we win the trophy ( CAF Champions League). But what we received after winning, I received about 1500 dollars because payment was delayed and done in installment. Some teammates received all their monies but for me, I can say not all the monies have been paid to us”
Dan Quaye added that, “Hearts still owes me and I’m not the only player. It’s been years and because of their behavior, some of my teammates said they have copies of the agreement including captain Amankwah Mireku and Charles Allotey. It’s very sad when you play your hearts out and promises made are not fulfilled”.
Dan Quaye was an integral part of the Hearts of Oak team, known as the (64 Battalion) who conquered Africa in tje year 2000 and 2005, winning both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup respectively.
He also made Ghana’s final squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany as one of the local based players.
Dan Quaye started his career with Great Olympics before moving to Hearts of Oak.
The versatile defender also had spells in China after which he returned to Ghana to play for Eleven Wise and a second stint with Hearts of Oak.
