Win it was for Ashaiman based football club Ashaiman City as they picked up a narrow win against arch rivals Real Scandy Football Academy in a local derby in the ongoing Greater Accra Division ll League 2023/24.
The City boys had gone three game without a win placing the team in an unfavourable position on the league log.
A local derby as it was termed produce a high intensive game, both team aimed at leaving no stone unturned in order to pick the three maximum points.
It was an end to end action, with the home team Real Scandy Football seeing much of the ball in the first half of the game. Scandy should have taken the lead in the early 15′ minutes but failed to punished the indecisive City defenders.
The experience City’s Goalkeeper Abubakar Ibrahim had a lot to do to save the day with an incredible performance to keep the game going.
A promising performance from the City boys in the second half of the game, picked up the pieces and took over to find the opening goal.
It was a desperate needed win by the away team – Ashaiman City as they grabbed the opportunity when the team was awarded a late penalty in the 78″ minutes through a close context that saw Abdul Aziz being faud in the eighteen yard box.
Bold Stephen Walden picked his spot to secure the three maximum points for Ashaiman City.
The goal was enough as a motivation for the City boys to keep the momentum as they carry the bragging rights over their arch rivals Real Scandy Football Academy.
