Ghanaian youngster Kwame Poku scores, grabs assist in Peterborough slim win over Derby County

Ghanaian international, Kwame Afriyie Poku rolled off 2024 in grand style after he registered a goal and provided an assist for Peterborough in their 3-2 win over Derby County in the EFL League One on Monday.

Poku, 22, has been on devasting form for the Posh in the ongoing 2023/24 season, having contributed to 16 goals in 24 games for the side with 8 goals and 8 assists so far.

Despite Derby County breaking the deadlock as early in the 1st minute through James Collins, Peterborough found back to level the score in the 9th minute after Kwame Poku set up Harrison Burrows with a decent header.

Back from recess, James Collins restored the lead for County in the 60th minute, but Poku canceled it out with an 84th minute strike to make it 2-2.

English youngster Ricky-Jade Jones placed the icing on the cake with the late winner to secure a narrow win for the visitors.

Kwame Poku topped the performance with the Man of the Match award.

In March 2021, Poku was called up to the Ghana National Team for the first time for their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying games against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe, where he made his debut the same month.
