Ghana President H. E. Nana Akufo-Addo inspired the senior national football team, Black Stars, during a special send-off party in Kumasi ahead of their 2023 Afcon journey to Ivory Coast in a quest break the 43 years trophy drought.
The players enjoyed a lively performance by Afro dancehall sensation Stonebwoy.
At the farewell dinner, attended by all 27 players, including star Mohammed Kudus, President Akufo-Addo passionately urged the team to give their utmost in Ivory Coast and break the nation’s 42-year trophy drought.
The Black Stars ended their preparations with a pre-AFCON friendly against Namibia on Monday which ended in a scoreless in what fans sees it to be negative but positive to the technical team.
Departing for Abidjan on Wednesday, they gear up for their Group B opener against Cape Verde on Sunday 14th January at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.
Ghana’s last won the title in Libya 1982. The four-time African champions, are hungry to bringing the 43 year-old drought to end this year in Ivory Coast.
Ghana will take on Cape Verde, Mozambique and Egypt in group stage of the competition.
