To help produce more female coaches, the Ghana Football Association has fully paid for 100 more women to undertake the CAF License D Coaching Course.
This women’s empowerment drive is aimed at bridging the gender gap between male and female coaches in the football ecosystem.
This initiative by the Ghana FA certainly has medium to long term benefits for Ghana football, as the association seeks to bridge the coaching gap in the country.
The commitment of the Ghana FA towards women’s football development has once again been justified with this organised effort of the association.
Late last year, the Ghana FA announced its effort to sponsor 40 women to undertake the License D Coaching Course.
That promise was fulfilled earlier this year when the 40 ladies who applied for the course started at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram.
With the increasing number of more women showing interest in the course and the Ghana FA ready to see more women trained in the field, the leadership of the association will be sponsoring 100 more women to undertake the course again.
This will bring the numbers to 140 women to be sponsored by the association to undertake the course.
The course will include the fundamentals of coaching, alongside specifics such as the concept of grassroots.
Understanding a coach’s role as an educator will also be highlighted as another core feature of the course.
Alongside the participants on-field and theory activities, there will also be health-based qualifications such as proper first aid and cardiovascular resuscitation training will be delivered.
The aim by the Ghana FA is to increase the number of females in coaching and in turn, reduce the gender gap in coaching throughout Ghana.
