Ex-skipper of Ghana’s U20 side, Nasiru Mohammed, has completed a move from Swedish third-tier team Trollhättan to Finnish top-tier team Ekenäs IF, starting a new chapter in his club career.
The 29-year-old attacker, whose contract with Trollhättan expired, is leaving Sweden, marking a major advancement in his football career.
With his new team in Finland, the 29-year-old has already made a big impression, playing in four cup matches and scoring one goal.
After serving as the Black Starlets’ captain in 2011, Mohammed’s European club career began in Sweden when he signed with BK Häcken in 2012. He had previously played for Rainbow FC in Ghana’s third division.
Mohammed played for seven years for BK Häcken before travelling to Levski Sofia in Bulgaria.
He then returned to Sweden and played for Trollhättan and Norrby IF, two teams who played in the lower divisions of Swedish football.
Mohammed demonstrated his leadership abilities on the global arena by leading Ghana’s U-17 squad in 2011 and the U-20 squad in 2013.
