The Equatorial Guinea national team will on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 bid farewell to their fans ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
The ceremony, which will be held at the Malabo national park, will see the country’s Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangué hand over the national flag to the captain of the national team, Emilio Nsue López.
Other prominent figures who will be present at the prestigious ceremony will include the Head of Defence and Security and the Ministry of Culture and Craft Promotion.
Fans of the Nzalang National will also get the last opportunity to see their stars before the team’s departure to Abidjan for the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament that would be held from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The Equatorial Guinea Football Federation plans the team to depart for Abidjan on Wednesday,January 10.
Equatorial Guinea, who are making their fourth appearance at the tournament, are placed in Group A alongside the host Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Guinea Bissau.
The Nzalang Nacional will begin their campaign against Nigeria on Sunday, January 14 at the Stade Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan.
