Crystal Palace have officially appointed former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner as their new head coach after the resignation of Roy Hodgson.
Concerns about the team’s standing—Palace is only two points above the relegation zone—have led to the decision.
With Glasner’s arrival, Jordan Ayew, a forward from Ghana, will now play for the team under the direction of his third permanent manager in his five-year contract.
Ayew was formerly coached by Patrick Vieira and Roy Hodgson, who held two spells at Palace.
The appointment of Glasner was made possible by Roy Hodgson’s departure. The 76-year-old manager resigned with immediate effect. Following a run of unsatisfactory performances—four losses in Palace’s previous five games—the decision was made.
Oliver Glasner has a proven track record at Selhurst Park, having guided Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League title in 2021–22 and a second-place finish in the DFB Pokal in 2022–23.
The timing of Glasner’s appointment is significant, as Palace prepares for a crucial fixture against relegation-threatened Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night.
