Black Stars of Ghana lost their opening group B game in the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament hosted by Ivory Coast. The lost came as a surprise to some football loving fans. But others who had followed the stars for sometime now knew the stars currently are not a team that can be considered as favorite to win the 2023 AFCON.
Considering the poor run of the team for the past decade. The inconsistency of the teams performance from world Cup to Afcon qualifiers and to friendly games, the stars could only win few out of the lots.
The stars lost to Cape Verde in a 1-2 raised lots of Criticism against the team. The Black Stars will come face-to-face against Egypt on Thursday 18, January, 2024 in their second group game.
In an interview with Sienu Tv, former Togolese international Emmanuel Adebayor really had some strong words about the Black Stars.
According to him, the team has the technical skills but lacks in tactics.
“Ghana will need more than just tactics and technicality to succeed in future games, mentioning mentality, determination, character, discipline and enthusiasm. Adebayor added that skipper Andre Ayew must find a way to motivate the team else Ghana will be on their way out by Friday… #AFCON2023.” he said
Adebayor called out the stars to see change of mentality and determination in their play could play key role to seal victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
