Historic CAF Champions League winners, Al Ahly showed impressive resilience and quality on Friday evening to defeat Ghanaian outfit Medeama SC by a lone goal.
A 48th minute strike from Hussein El Shahat was all that the Egyptian giants needed to steal all maximum points from the Ghanaian champions.
The two clubs locked horns at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the 5th encounter of Group D in this season’s CAF Champions League competition.
Medeama SC will be blaming their stars for being wasteful upfront with several set pieces dropping their way in the first half.
Although they did battle, the Ghanaian champs made several mistakes that hindered their performance and prevented them from doing much damage.
The two teams played a fierce game, but despite their intense competition, neither team was able to score, and both ended the first half even.
Hussein El Shahat fired home the winner three minutes into the second half to give Al Ahly the lead.
Despite their best efforts, Medeama SC was unable to tie the score and ultimately had to concede a close loss at the end of the ninety minutes.
As a result, Medeama SC is now at the bottom of Group D and faces elimination from the CAF Champions League this season.
