The Super Eagles of Nigeria were supposed to play Argentina and El Salvador in the United States, but logistical issues have prevented this from happening.
In the meantime, on Friday, March 22, and Tuesday, March 26, in Marrakech, Morocco, there will be matches that rekindle long-standing rivalry with Ghana and Mali.
Given the 73-year history of animosity between the two West African powerhouses, the match versus Ghana’s Black Stars is especially significant.
In a FIFA World Cup play-off, the two teams’ most recent match in March 2022 resulted in a hotly contested tie.
With a mix of new and experienced players, the Nigerian team is led by players like Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Victor Osimhen.
In addition, the squad is strengthened by the return of important players like Tyronne Ebuehi and Jamilu Collins as well as the promising recruits Gabriel Osho and Benjamin Tianimu.
After losing to Cote d’Ivoire in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final, all eyes will be on the Super Eagles as they look to once again demonstrate their talent on the global scale.
The Black Stars on the other hand will be presented with a fine opportunity to redeem themselves, at least with a win over Nigeria, after their poor outing at the 2023 AFCON held in Nigeria last month.
Nigeria after missing out on the 2022 World Cup because of the Black Stars will be gingered to take a revenge against Ghana despite the game being a friendly.
