Black Stars training truncated due to heavy downpour

The training session of Ghana’s senior national team – the Black Stars – was forced to an abrupt end due to heavy rains at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Stars were having their recovery training session after their clash with Namibia on Monday at the same venue.

Chris Hughton and his charges started training around 4pm with various sessions for different players.

For the players who started the game against Namibia, they were tacked in low intensity exercises with various massage sessions while those who came from the bench and the unused substitutes resorted to rondos and pressing sessions.

The unexpected rain started when the team was about 30 minutes in their training and forced everything to a sudden end.

The rains which came with heavy winds forced the entire technical team and the playing body to run to the dressing room, leaving most of the equipment on the field.

After raining heavily for about an hour, the rains subsided for the equipment team to go for the equipment left alone the field and the team departed from the venue.

The Black Stars will depart Kumasi on Wednesday and fly directly to Abidjan for the upcoming AFCON 2023.

The tournament will start on Saturday 13th January the Black Stars scheduled for their first game a day later.

Ghana is in Group B with Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.
