Basiktas to part ways with Daniel Amartey next season

Turkish Super Lig giants Basiktas are set to part ways with Ghana defender Daniel Amartey next season, according to multiple reports in Turkey.

Amartey, 29, joined Basiktas from Leicester City in the English Championship at the beginning of this season.

The Ghanaian, since arriving at the Tüpras Stadyumu has made only 15 appearances for the Istanbul side and reports suggest he’s not impressed the handlers of the team.

The experienced Ghana defender picked an injury at the early stages of his marriage with Basiktas, and that has affected his output for the side.

The Black Stars defender will not be the only one to be affected as he is one of ten players to be released by the Turkish giants.

Cameroon forward and 2021 AFCON goal king, Vincent Abubakar, has also been named among the players to be released by the club.

Former England player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ante Rebic and Jackson Muleka are all in the list of players to be shipped out.

The others include Rachid Ghezzal, Joe Worrall, Jean Onana, Arthur Masuaku and Valentin Rosier.

Even though Amartey’s next destination is not known, close sources to the player have hinted that the Ghana defender is likely to head to either the Major League Soccer or the Gulf to play in either Qatar or Saudi Arabia
