Ghanaian youngster Baba Alhassan has described his move to Romania as a blessing after a challenging moment in Spain with Valladolid.
At 18, Baba joined Valladolid in Spain with the dream of making his debut La Liga appearance.
But the Ghanaian could only train with the first team and play a few games for the second team before moving to Romania.
“My move to Romania has been a very wonderful move for me and a blessing. There was a technical coach at Valladolid who moved to Romania,” he told Sienu TV.
“He was the one who called me and convinced me to move to Romania because I didn’t even know there was a country called Romania,” he laughed.
“So I went and after a week training with the second team, they moved me to the first team,” he continued.
“I got registered and started playing games. I got about five starts but the team was not winning games so the coach was changed. A new coach comes in and I never played again,” he sadly said.
“That coach also got sacked with three games to end the season and we’re relegated. But the one who took over before we were relegated had confidence in me and gave me the chance and I really played well. We gained promotion back into the first league the year after we’re relegated,” he added.
Following the club’s return to the first league, Baba was stupendous for Hermannstadt in the Romanian league, making him the subject of transfer between Steaua Bucuresti and Rapid Bucuresti.
The Ghanaian eventually joined Steaua Bucuresti where he has been featuring in a number of game after his move and is likely to win the Romanian Liga 1 with his new side.
