Football players Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, and William Troost Ekong were cleared of any prohibited substances by the CAF after their anti-doping tests produced positive results.
The current African player of the year, Victor Osimhen, demonstrated incredible strength and endurance during Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau on January 22.
As part of the routine protocol, random drug tests were carried out in response to the exceptional energy levels demonstrated by Osimhen and other important players.
These tests took place following the Super Eagles’ match against Guinea-Bissau, not after their 2-0 victory over Cameroon on January 27, as was initially reported.
Important players that were essential to Nigeria’s success in the 2023 AFCON, such Moses Simon and William Troost-Ekong, also had random drug tests.
This is standard procedure in international football competitions, especially for players with extraordinary strength.
