AFCON 2023: South Africa FA Boss Danny Jordaan impressed with South Africa despite defeat to Nigeria

President of the South Africa Football Association (SAFA), Danny Jordan, despite not making it to the finals, has praised the players for their amazing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

After a 1-1 draw in extra time and a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to Nigeria, the Bafana Bafana were unable to move on to the continental showpiece final.

Williams Troost-Ekong scored from the penalty spot to give Nigeria the lead, while Teboho Mokoena of South Africa equalised in stoppage time.

Danny Jordan was happy with the team’s performance during the competition after the game.

In the meantime, he plans to make up for the recent loss to Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.

“Your performance is one of the best in many years of our football. You have established yourself now,” he told the players after the game.
