AFCON 2023: Chris Hughton confirms Kudus will join Black Stars on Tuesday

Ghana manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that West ham United playmaker Mohammed Kudus will officially join the Ghana team on Tuesday as they conclude their preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

When Kudus arrives, there will be a total of 27 players in camp.

Kudus has been recuperating from a slight injury, which is the reason for the delay in his arrival.

The player was given additional time to rest and recover by the Black Stars’ technical team, according to Henry Asante Twum, director of communications for the Ghana Football Association.

With ten goals across all competitions, the attacking midfielder is believed to be fully recovered and prepared to join his teammates, who have been in camp since January 3, 2024.

The Black Stars’ friendly match against Namibia ended in a disheartening 0-0 tie, and they will need to make major progress before their opening match on Sunday, January 14, 2023, in Ivory Coast against Cape Verde.

In the group stage, they will also play Egypt and Mozambique.

Ghana hasn’t won the competition since 1982, thus Kudus is likely to be a key player in the team’s success. His efforts could also dictate how far Ghana can advance in the competition.

The team’s fortunes will depend on the collective efforts of all the players, and Kudus’ addition to the squad will certainly be a welcome boost.
