Legal luminary, Ace Ankomah has opted out of the five-member committee tasked to search for the new Black Stars coach.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), after Black Stars preposterous campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, have sacked the head coach Chris Hughton and subsequently formed a five-man committee to find a new coach for the Black Stars.
The legal practitioner was named as the Vice Chairman of the committee to work alongside the Chairman of the Committee Mark Addo and its other members which include sports psychologist Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, Black Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko legend, Opoku Nti, and Chief Director at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, William Caesar Katey.
However, according to grapevine source, Ace Ankomah Esq has opted out due to a case between the GFA and GNPC.
The committee’s primary responsibility is to recommend a new gaffer to the GFA Executive Council to lead the Black Stars as soon as possible.
Ace Anan Ankomah is the Senior Partner of the firm. He has over 29 years’ experience in legal practice. As the head of the Disputes practice group of the firm, he is responsible for all contentious matters, by managing, supervising, and performing the required analyses, and then handling trials before the courts and at international and domestic arbitration.
He has worked as Counsel in several headline dispute matters both in Ghana and internationally.
Ace has represented several local and international clients including International Finance Corporation, Bank of Ghana, Abosso Goldfields, Exim Bank, NML Capital Limited, Vitol, Ecobank, Deloitte & Touche, AngloGold Ashanti and Vodafone.
Ace holds an LLB from the University of Ghana and a Master of Laws in International Taxation from Queens University, Canada.
He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, ICSID Panel of Arbitrators and the Board of Lex Mundi. He is also a Fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN), Africa Leadership Initiative, West Africa (ALIWA) and the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
