Black Stars touch down in Kumasi

The Black Stars of Ghana touched down at the Kumasi Airport on Monday evening led by coach Chris Hughton to start preparation for 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The team was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic football-loving fans at the Kumasi International Airport on Monday.

At the arrival, notable players present led by captain Dede Ayew, Alidu Seidu, Salisu Abdul Samed, Jojo Wollacottt, Baba Iddrisu, Gideon Mensah and  Majeed Ashimeru.

Other key players expected to join the include Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo.

However, key notable players that could have secured a spot in Houghton’s final list for AFCON, 2023 but due to injuries and other football related issues could not make the cut includes Arsenal star man Thomas Teye Partey, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Baba Rahman, Tariq Lamptey and Fatawu Issahaku.

The team initially plan to stage camping far in South Africa but later reversed choosing Kumasi as suitable place for Black Star’s camping.

Aspirations and hope very high as the nations tournament set to kickstart on January 13, 2024.

The four time African Champions expected to come face-to-face against Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique at the group stage.

The Black Stars debut match in the tournament is against Cape Verde on January 14, 2024 followed by Egypt and Cape Verde respectively.
