President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku has travelled to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) championship game, which is currently underway.
This Sunday at the Lassane Outarra Stadium in Ebimpe, the host country, Ivory Coast, will face Nigeria in the highly anticipated match.
Okraku will be present for the championship game as one of the distinguished guests, even though Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, did not advance to the tournament’s knockout stage.
Ghana had a difficult group stage campaign, drawing 2-2 with both Egypt and Mozambique and losing 2-1 to Cape Verde. As a result, they were eliminated from the competition.
With two points, they finished the group stage in third place.
The importance of the AFCON final to the African football community is highlighted by Okraku’s attendance. He’s expected to watch a thrilling match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast as they compete for continental supremacy.
The highly anticipated match is set to begin at 20:00 GMT.
