Ghana coach Chris Hughton has explained why he brought out Osman Bukari in his side’s 2-2 stalemate with Egypt on Thursday.
The Red star Belgrade winger was brought out a few minutes after he was introduced into the game.
His introduction would forever be fresh in the minds of Ghanaians as he gifted Egypt their equaliser.
The youngster was swiftly substituted after committing the blunder which many felt would affect the player negatively.
But Head coach Chris Hughton says the player was very emotional after the blunder and the best option was to bring him out.
“Osman Bukari is a fabulous player. He has had a good season and he is a player we like as an individual and as a player.
“After the mistake, sometimes your emotions can get hold of you and you could only feel this when you are close to the touchline. Because it is an emotional game, we felt the mistake affected him a little bit so we decided to make the change,” he said.
“So this is nothing personal against anybody. We like him a lot and this doesn’t go against anything we feel against him.”
The Black Stars after drawing 2-2 with Egypt are now in third place and will have to secure maximum points against Mozambique on Monday to secure a place in the round of 16.
