Bourmouth’s enterprising striker Antoine Semenyo could not feature in the Black Stars friendly game against Namibia on Monday night January, 2023 as part of the African Cup of Nations up coming tournament in Ivory Coast.
Ghana could only lineup a single friendly game for the team on home soil at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi- Asanti Region of Ghana.
Semenyo’s absence in the game was massively felt upfront. He comes in with his energy and high pressing for the Black Stars as a goal potcher.
Head coach Chris Hoghton at the presser confirmed reasons why the player was excluded from the team against the Braves Warriors.
After the game, Hughton confirmed that Semenyo was unwell, hence the decision not to include him in the matchday squad.
“Semenyo was ill and couldn’t train with the team on Sunday. We were monitoring to see how he was on Monday but there was no change so that excluded him from the game” he said after the game.”- Chris Hoghton
Hopefully the enterprising striker would recover before the team departs for Ivory Coast on Wednesday for the continental showpiece.
The Black Stars will be competing for the title in neighbouring country, Ivory Coast this month as the search for a fifth AFCON title continues.
