2024 Olympic Games Qualifier: Black Queens return to Ghana from Zambia after brilliant display against Copper Queens

Ghana’s female senior national team, the Black Queens returned home on Friday from Zambia after they were eliminated by the Copper Queens from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.

The Black Queens lost 4-3 on aggrehate to the Copper Queens despite a pulsating 3-3 stalemate in Zambia at the Levi Mwanawasa Stadium on Wednesday.

A number of the players had returned to their various European clubs after the elimination, with a few returning to Ghana on Friday.

The remaining players are set to join their respective clubs across Ghana and the continent.

The Black Queens fought valiantly throughout the qualifiers, and their performance against Zambia was no exception.

Ghana was behind early on as Zambia won the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium by a score of just 1-0.

The Black Queens made a heroic attempt in the second leg in Ndola, but they were unable to overturn the deficit; as a result, the game ended in a 3-3 draw, with Zambia winning 4-3 overall.

Ghana’s dreams of winning an Olympic medal came to an end with this result, disappointing both the team and their supporters.

However, Nora Hauptle’s team showed courage and tenacity, almost making up the deficit from the first leg.
