Head coach of Ghana’s U20 side – The Black Satellites – Desmond Ofei, is certain that his squad is prepared and driven to meet its goals for the upcoming 13th African Games Men’s Football competition, which will take place in 2024 from March 8–23.
The head coach of the national U20 made these remarks at the pre-match news conference on the eve of the opening match of the African Games between Ghana and Congo at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Coach Ofei and U20 captain Asamoah Kuffour addressed Ghanaians at the media conference on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in the Accra Sports Stadium’s Media Centre.
“We go into every competition with the mindset to try to achieve the ultimate goal, which is to try to win the tournament.
With our performance and if we advance further I am sure we will lift high the image of Ghana””We are taking it a game after the other and we are starting with Congo. We are fully prepared for the game against Congo.”
“Every tournament is different but we are playing at home and expectations are high. We are ready to give our very best and let’s see how the tournament goes”.
“There’s no pressure. We are fully prepared and we really have a good squad and the boys are ready and hungry so we don’t feel any pressure”.
“Our motivation is that we are the host country and that’s enough motivation for us. Secondly, we are Ghana, we are very hungry and ready to deliver. We just have to showcase our abilities and represent the country as best as we can”, Desmond Ofei told the Media at today’s press conference.
On his part, Team captain Asamoah Kuffour said that:
“There are many young players out there looking for this opportunity and we are grateful to be selected to represent Ghana in this competition.”
“We are ready and we are prepared enough to win the trophy”.
